About us

The “Disarmament to combat poverty” initiative is an international civic action campaign that started back in 2005.

The idea of campaigning to strengthen the bond between peace and social justice emerged during a meeting between the leaders of Piler (Pakistan), Ekta Parishad (India) and Frères des Hommes (France).

Since 2006, the campaign movement has organised several consultations of representatives of social agencies and citizens, including associations that fight poverty, workers’ organisations from the informal sector, landless and poor farmers’ organisations, youth and popular education associations, trade unions, women’s associations, community development organisations and pacifist movements, in the North and in the South.

These exchanges have led to:

  • the formulation of a common proposal: the 10% Option;

  • a network organisation;

  • the creation of an international coordination that is facilitated by Frères des Hommes.

The network gathers all the organisations that take an active part in the campaign.

It relies on national correspondents throughout the various continents.
