Find out about the campaign

The international civic campaign “Disarmament to combat poverty” features
the 10% Option, which advocates that the 10% of public expenses that go towards armament
be channeled instead into eradicating poverty and investing in the sustainable and interdependent development of nutrition,
social protection, health, education and accommodation all over the world.

On an international level, the petition asks that UN Security Council permanent members (the US, Russia, France, the UK and China) be good examples and implement the 10% Option in accordance with existing resolutions, particularly in order to mobilize the necessary financing to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

On a national level, the 10% Option can also be implemented as a domestic policy option to balance the budget between "national security" and "social and environmental security", as well as a unilateral strategic initiative to modify multilateral lines.

The 10% Option is everybody’s concern, but especially those who want that public money, everybody’s money, be used in priority to ensure that human beings’ vital needs are met all over the world.
